Selected for Avignon Off 2025
Instrumental-Physical Theater
Instrumental Physical Theatre is an innovative performance genre where classically trained musicians become full-bodied stage protagonists, mastering contemporary dance as a second language of expression.
Created through groundbreaking productions such as The Four Seasons (A. Vivaldi), Quartet No. 8 (D. Shostakovich), Death and the Maiden (F. Schubert), and The Raft of the Medusa (A. Vivaldi), this genre redefines the relationship between sound and movement, performer and audience.
Since 2012 IPTheater has been developing a methodology where the musician's body is the score - not an illustration of the music, but the music itself.
